Member of Parliament for Sissala West, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, has appealed for calm and restraint following a land-related dispute between the Buo and Tiwii communities that reportedly claimed two lives and left others injured.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 27, 2026, prompting the MP to express concern over the loss of lives and the potential for further escalation.
In a statement, Mr. Sukparu extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
“I am deeply saddened and concerned by reports of a land-related dispute between the Buo and Tiwii communities in the Sissala West District earlier today, Sunday, 27th September 2026. Tragically, the incident has claimed two lives and left others injured,” he said.
He said security personnel had been deployed to the affected communities to restore calm while investigations continue.
“I have been informed that the Regional Security Council and the District Security Council have deployed personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to the affected communities to help restore and maintain calm while investigations into the incident are ongoing,” he stated.
The MP urged residents of Buo, Tiwii and neighbouring communities to refrain from retaliation, provocation and other actions that could worsen the situation.
“I urge all residents of Buo, Tiwii and neighbouring communities to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from any acts of retaliation, provocation, or violence,” he said.
Mr. Sukparu, who described himself as a son of both communities, also appealed to traditional leaders, opinion leaders, youth, women and other stakeholders to work towards preventing further violence.
“Whatever differences exist between us, no land or boundary dispute is worth the loss of another human life,” he stressed.
He further urged residents to cooperate fully with the security agencies and provide any relevant information that could assist investigations.
The incident follows a land-related dispute between the Buo and Tiwii communities in the Sissala West District.
According to the MP’s statement, two people have died and others sustained injuries, while security personnel have been deployed to the affected communities as investigations continue.
The MP has urged all parties to allow the security agencies to establish the facts and ensure that the matter is handled through due process.
