Carlos Queiroz is confident Ghana will defeat Ivory Coast when the two West African rivals meet again in the return fixture of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Elephants at the Stade de Bouaké on Thursday, with Malick Yalcouyé and Franck Kessié scoring for the hosts.
Despite the setback, Queiroz believes Ghana will respond when Ivory Coast travel to Accra for the reverse fixture next year.
“When Ivory Coast comes to Ghana, with all due respect, it will be our turn to win,” Queiroz said after the match.
“So the score, as you said now, is 16–15, right? So in a couple of months it will be 16–16. I have no doubt about that, that we are going to win that game,” he added.
The defeat leaves Ghana at the bottom of Group C ahead of their second qualifying fixture against Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29.
The Black Stars are seeking a return to the Africa Cup of Nations after failing to qualify for the 2025 edition in Morocco.
