Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Sadiq, has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Aurthoriy (GIPA), Simon Madjie, as part of efforts to strengthen economic and investment relations between Ghana and Nigeria.
The engagement focused on opportunities to deepen bilateral trade and investment cooperation, particularly in light of the growing contribution of Nigerian investors to Ghana’s economy.
Ghana attracted more than US$2.6 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) across 254 projects in 2025, with Nigeria accounting for US$104.68 million, making it Ghana’s third-largest source of new investments during the year.
The figures highlight the significant potential for further investment cooperation between the two countries.
According to the High Commissioner, strengthening economic diplomacy will be a key priority for Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Nigeria.
He stressed the need for closer collaboration between the Ghana High Commission, GIPA and other relevant stakeholders to deepen Ghana-Nigeria investment and trade relations.
The collaboration is expected to focus on attracting more Nigerian investments into Ghana while creating greater opportunities for Ghanaian businesses seeking to expand their operations into the Nigerian market.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts to leverage Ghana’s diplomatic missions to promote trade, investment and economic partnerships that can contribute to job creation and sustainable economic growth.
