A 27-year-old man, Yussif Zakari, has died after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of nine people at Sabon Zongo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region over allegations of theft.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, when Yussif Zakari and another person, identified as Baaba Adamu, were accused of stealing GH¢4,800.
According to reports, the two were confronted by the group, tied to a wooden pillar, and subjected to severe beatings.
Yussif Zakari reportedly died from injuries sustained during the attack, while Baaba Adamu survived and is currently receiving medical attention.
The police have arrested one suspect in connection with the incident, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining eight suspects who are currently at large.
