The Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses and attracting long-term investment into the Ghanaian economy.
The Board Chairman of GIPA, Akwasi Opong-Fosu, made the remarks while participating in the Africa Business and Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., held under the distinguished patronage of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Life Patron of the Millennium Excellence Foundation.
Mr Opong-Fosu led a GIPA delegation, including Deputy Chief Executive Officer Rasak Baba, to the summit, where they engaged investors, business leaders, entrepreneurs and members of the African diaspora on investment opportunities in Ghana.
He said Ghana remained open to both domestic and international investment, stressing that GIPA’s mandate was to position the country not only as a destination for capital but also as a credible partner for responsible and mutually beneficial investments.
According to him, such investments should create jobs, facilitate technology and knowledge transfer, strengthen local enterprises and contribute to sustainable economic transformation.
Mr Opong-Fosu also highlighted the strategic role of the Ghanaian diaspora in the country’s development, calling for stronger partnerships in investment, trade, entrepreneurship, innovation and other areas of economic activity.
He said the diaspora possessed significant capital, expertise, technology, global networks and experience that could be harnessed to accelerate Ghana’s industrialisation and strengthen the country’s position as a gateway to the wider African market.
He further outlined investment opportunities across key sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture and agro-processing, manufacturing, energy, technology, tourism and healthcare.
Mr Opong-Fosu said the government, under President John Dramani Mahama, was pursuing an economic reset aimed at restoring investor confidence and creating conditions for businesses to invest, expand and prosper.
He said GIPA would continue to support the government’s agenda by facilitating investments, strengthening investor confidence and building partnerships capable of translating Ghana’s economic potential into jobs and sustainable opportunities.
He noted that engagements in Washington had reinforced the need to transform Ghana’s investment narrative into concrete partnerships, enterprises and economic opportunities.
Mr Opong-Fosu expressed appreciation to the organisers of the Africa Business and Investment Summit and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his continued leadership in promoting investment and strengthening economic connections between Ghana, Africa and the global diaspora.
He reiterated that Ghana was ready to welcome investors and establish partnerships capable of delivering shared prosperity.
