Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has petitioned the Speaker of Parliament to remove Abena Osei-Asare as Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
In a letter dated Monday, November 3, 2025, A Plus argued that Mrs. Osei-Asare’s continued leadership of the Committee “undermines the spirit of accountability and transparency that Parliament stands for,” given her current role as a Deputy Minister of Finance.
He further stated, “It is a clear conflict of interest for a Deputy Finance Minister to chair the very Committee mandated to scrutinize the accounts of the Ministry of Finance and its agencies.”
The Gomoa Central MP urged the Speaker to act swiftly to preserve public confidence in Parliament’s oversight role.
“The integrity of the Public Accounts Committee must be beyond reproach, and the current arrangement erodes that trust,” the petition added.
