The campaign team of Dr. Bryan Acheampong has responded to a recent press conference held by a group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth organizers in the Ashanti Region who publicly endorsed former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2026 presidential race.
In a statement dated Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the Bryan Acheampong campaign described the youth group’s comments as filled with “unfortunate insults and baseless accusations” against Dr. Acheampong.
The team, however, said it would not be drawn into a war of words, stressing its commitment to party unity and mutual respect.
“The statement, which included the names of some unwilling individuals — and even a deceased person — as signatories, was laced with unfortunate insults and baseless accusations against the person of Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong,” the campaign noted.
Citing a recent meeting with former President Akufo-Addo, the statement emphasized that Dr. Acheampong remains committed to peace and unity within the party.
“Out of respect for our shared commitment to a united NPP, the values of Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s campaign and following the meeting with Former President Akufo-Addo, where we affirmed the same, we will not dignify these provocations with a response. We urge all our supporters nationwide to do the same — do not engage, do not respond, and do not return insults,” the statement added.
The campaign said its focus remains on “engaging delegates with respect, advancing ideas that strengthen the NPP, and preparing the party for decisive victory in 2028.”
It also expressed appreciation to supporters across the country, particularly in the Ashanti Region, for their confidence and encouragement.
The statement follows a press conference in Kumasi on October 28, 2025, where 62 incumbent and 34 former NPP youth organizers endorsed Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid while rejecting Dr. Acheampong’s ambition, describing it as a potential threat to party unity.
Despite the controversy surrounding the event, including claims that the endorsement list contained the name of a deceased person, the Bryan Acheampong campaign has chosen to take the high road, urging calm and restraint among its supporters as preparations continue for the party’s 2026 flagbearer race.
