Actress Yvonne Nelson has announced her intention to organize another vigil to protest the persistent power outages, commonly referred to as Dumsor, in Ghana.
The vigil, slated to take place at Revolution Square near Jubilee House, the seat of government in Accra, aims to highlight the adverse effects of the erratic power supply on the lives of Ghanaians.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2024, the event will run until midnight, with participants expected to gather at the venue by 8:30 am.
Yvonne Nelson and her team have formally written to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), seeking permission under the Public Order Act (Act 491), which stipulates that organizers must notify the police at least five days prior to holding any special event in a public place.
The vigil serves as a platform for citizens to express their frustrations with the ongoing power crisis and to urge the government to take decisive action to address the situation.
