I won’t influence corruption investigations against anyone – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has stated that he will not protect anyone from corruption investigations by the Ghana’s anti-corruption institutions.

According to him, all cases will be probed thoroughly regardless of the government you served.

Addressing the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, May 3, President Mahama underscored that respect for the rule of law and prosecutorial autonomy is a core principle of his leadership.

He noted that his administration is fully committed to empowering anti-graft agencies to carry out their duties without fear or favour, regardless of the political affiliations or former positions of those involved.

President Mahama further noted that the fight against corruption cannot be selective or politically motivated, and that true progress requires impartial enforcement of the law.

He said, “I have told the public and assured my Attorney General and Minister of Justice that I am not going to interfere in their work. If the anti-corruption agencies go after anybody, I am not going to try and influence them to drop any investigation against anybody, including those who served in the previous regime, many cases of whom we are currently investigating.”
