Key stakeholders in Ghana’s education sector have reviewed the implementation of the government’s No-Fees-Stress Policy, with calls for stronger institutional collaboration to make tertiary education financing more inclusive and sustainable.
The discussions took place at a stakeholder dialogue convened by the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and organised by the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
The dialogue brought together representatives from across the education sector to critically assess the implementation of the policy and identify areas requiring improvement.
Edem Agbana, a member of Parliament’s Select Committee on Education, who participated in the discussions, said the engagement provided an opportunity for stakeholders to make recommendations aimed at strengthening the programme and improving its impact on students.
According to the legislator, the recommendations focused on improving implementation, deepening institutional partnerships and ensuring that tertiary education financing becomes more inclusive, equitable and sustainable.
The stakeholder engagement forms part of broader efforts to advance President John Dramani Mahama’s vision of making education more accessible and affordable at all levels.
The Students Loan Trust Fund remains a key institution in the government’s efforts to provide financial support to eligible tertiary students and reduce financial barriers to higher education.
Stakeholders are expected to continue working together to strengthen the policy and ensure that its benefits reach eligible students across the country.
