The Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF), Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, has encouraged young women to believe in themselves, embrace their purpose and remain authentic as they navigate their personal and professional journeys.
She made the call during an engagement with young women at the B.You Conference, where she shared her experiences and reflections on purpose, identity and personal growth.
Ms Darko-Opoku said she considered it a privilege to participate in platforms that bring young women together, challenge them to think beyond their current circumstances and equip them with the knowledge and confidence to aspire for greater opportunities.
Reflecting on her own experiences, she said many women of her generation could have found their direction and purpose earlier if they had access to mentorship, exposure and guidance at a younger age.
She encouraged the young women to remain grounded in their values and not allow societal expectations to dictate who they should become or how quickly they should achieve success.
According to her, young people are often pressured to conform to expectations about who they should be, how fast they should succeed and what their lives should look like.
She therefore urged the participants to remain rooted in their purpose and grounded in authenticity while having the courage to pursue lives that reflect their individual aspirations.
Ms Darko-Opoku expressed appreciation to broadcaster Berla Mundi and the B.You Conference team for creating what she described as a necessary platform for empowering young women.
She also commended fellow speakers and others who contributed their knowledge, experience and encouragement to the participants.
She said investing intentionally in the next generation of women would contribute to a brighter future.
“Be rooted in your purpose, be grounded in authenticity and when you pray, remember to pray for the courage to live a life that is truly yours,” she said.
