Contractors have moved to site to commence work on the 160-bed Western North Regional Referral Hospital near Sefwi Wiawso.
The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, announced this in a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
According to the Minister, the project will cover an area of approximately 21,500 square metres and is expected to provide a major healthcare facility for residents of the Western North Region.
The hospital is expected to serve as a regional referral facility, providing residents with access to specialised healthcare services closer to home.
The commencement of construction marks a significant step towards the development of the project, which is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical services in the region.
Mr Ofosu Kwakye said the commencement of work forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to expand and improve healthcare infrastructure across the country to strenghten Universl Health Care (UHC) delivery.
