The Heritage and Cultural Society of Africa (HACSA) Foundation is set to graduate 80 young women from Cohort 5 of its flagship Tech4Girls programme as part of activities marking the organisation’s 10th anniversary.
The graduation ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 2026, in Accra, and will also mark the official launch of the 10th Anniversary HACSA Sankofa Summit.
Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, is expected to attend the ceremony as Special Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker.
The United Nations Resident Coordinator for Ghana, Zia Choudhury, is also expected to attend, alongside traditional leaders, Cabinet Ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, corporate executives and international partners.
A specially commissioned Sankofa Bird Mascot, which will serve as a symbol of reflection, heritage and forward vision for the anniversary celebrations, will also be unveiled at the event.
The foundation will additionally launch a dedicated web application designed to facilitate global participation in the Sankofa Summit and strengthen engagement with members of the African diaspora.
The graduation of the 80 young women forms part of HACSA Foundation’s efforts to bridge the digital gender divide by equipping young Africans with digital skills, mentorship and career-readiness opportunities.
According to the foundation, the Tech4Girls programme is designed to support participants in transitioning into sustainable livelihoods.
It has set a target of at least 70 per cent of graduates progressing into higher education, securing employment or internships, or establishing viable businesses within six months of completing the programme.
The programme also seeks to ensure that at least 30 per cent of those who secure employment achieve an average increase in income.
HACSA said a survey of graduates from previous cohorts showed that the programme had exceeded these targets.
The foundation will host the 10th Anniversary HACSA Sankofa Summit from December 10 to 15, 2026.
The global gathering is expected to bring together members of the African diaspora, policymakers, thought leaders, creatives, philanthropists, impact investors and other stakeholders interested in Africa’s heritage and development.
Activities will include an international conference, charity gala, heritage tours and a festival celebrating African heritage and culture.
The charity gala will serve as a fundraising platform to support HACSA programmes and projects, including a creative arts fellowship and the Tech4Girls initiative.
HACSA Foundation says its work over the past decade has focused on promoting African heritage and culture as tools for development, social equity and progress.
As it enters its second decade, the organisation says it is pursuing a strategy centred on financial sustainability, measurable livelihood outcomes and the development of physical and digital platforms that connect African youth with skills, mentors, markets and global diaspora networks.
