The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has commenced the vetting of aspirants seeking to contest positions in the party’s constituency executive elections.
The three-day vetting exercise began today, according to the party’s Director of Elections and IT, Mahdi Gibril.
In a statement, Mr Gibril said the process is intended to assess the aspirants ahead of the constituency-level elections.
He urged aspirants to familiarise themselves with the NDC’s Constitution and election guidelines, stressing that simply possessing copies of the documents is not enough.
“Carrying copies of the party Constitution and the Guidelines is good, but understanding the import of the wordings is key,” he said.
The vetting exercise is expected to continue for three days as the party prepares for the next stage of its constituency executive election process.
So far 435 candidates went unopposed at the close of submission.
After successful vetting, they will be deemed elected.
