Parliament has urged the public and media to stop sharing a video showing Madina Member of Parliament, Francis-Xavier Sosu, taking ill while delivering a presentation at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
In a statement, Parliament said the MP received immediate assistance at the event and was subsequently transferred to a medical facility for treatment.
“Parliament is pleased to confirm that Hon. Sosu is in stable condition and is under the care of his medical team,” the statement said.
Parliament appealed to the public and media to respect the MP’s privacy and that of his family, particularly as he receives medical attention.
“Desist from sharing the video, out of respect for the Honourable Member and his family,” Parliament urged.
It also called on the public to avoid speculation about the cause of the incident or the MP’s condition.
“Refrain from speculation on the cause of the incident or his condition,” the statement added.
Parliament expressed appreciation to the management and staff of GIMPA, medical personnel and others who responded promptly to the incident.
It also thanked the public for the prayers and messages of goodwill received following news of the MP’s condition.
The statement follows the circulation of a video on social media showing the Madina MP taking ill while speaking at GIMPA. Parliament said he received immediate assistance before being transferred to a medical facility, where he is receiving medical attention.
Parliament said further updates on his condition would be communicated through its official channels as appropriate.
