The three-day World Shea Expo 2026 has ended with a renewed focus on expanding Ghana’s shea industry and creating opportunities for women, young entrepreneurs, processors and other players across the value chain.
The annual event was hosted by the Office for Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness headed by Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor at the Office of the President, in partnership with Savannah Golden Tree Limited and other state agencies.
The expo brought together more than 7,000 participants, including women’s cooperatives, youth-led businesses, shea processors, exporters, international buyers, financial institutions, development agencies, traditional authorities and the media.
Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang attended the event, alongside the Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu; Paramount Chief of the Kasuli Traditional Area, Naa Kasuli Lana; Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr Andy Okran; Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX), Evelyn Abakah; and Chief Executive Officer of the Northern Development Authority, Dr Emmanuel Abeere-Inga.
The three-day programme featured exhibitions, panel discussions, investment forums, business-to-business engagements, policy dialogues and training workshops.
Organisers said the activities were designed to unlock more than US$10 million in business opportunities across the shea value chain.
The expo also provided a platform for stakeholders to engage on opportunities within the industry and strengthen connections between producers, processors, exporters, investors and international buyers.
The organisers expressed appreciation to partners, sponsors and collaborators who supported the event, with particular recognition for women’s shea groups, traditional leaders and communities across Ghana’s five northern regions.
