The Acting Municipal Health Director for Kwahu South, Ama Asarewaa Boateng, has appealed to the government, corporate institutions, Non-Governmental Organisations and benevolent individuals to support the Kwahu Obo Health Centre with theatre equipment as the facility prepares to be upgraded to a polyclinic.
The absence of theatre equipment at the facility continues to constrain the delivery of quality healthcare to residents of Obo and surrounding communities.
According to Madam Boateng, the health centre has satisfied most of the requirements for attaining polyclinic status but urgently needs theatre equipment to enable it to provide more comprehensive medical services.
She made the appeal during a ceremony at which Obo Vision donated laboratory equipment valued at GH¢523,000 to the health centre.
“The Obo Health Centre is gradually attaining polyclinic status. However, we need theatre equipment to enable us to provide improved healthcare services and perform more medical procedures at the facility.”
Madam Boateng said the provision of the necessary equipment would significantly improve healthcare delivery and reduce the need for residents to travel outside the community to access certain medical procedures.
Presenting the laboratory equipment, the Akyempemhene of Obo and representative of Obo Vision, Barima Adofo Kissi, said the donation followed an assessment of the immediate needs of the health facility.
He said improving healthcare infrastructure was critical to the development and wellbeing of the Obo community.
“We recognised the challenges facing the health centre and decided to support it with these laboratory machines.
We urge the staff to take proper care of the equipment to ensure it serves its intended purpose for many years.”
The donation is expected to strengthen laboratory services at the facility and support efforts to upgrade the Obo Health Centre into a polyclinic.
