The Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, has paid a working visit to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) in Accra to seek support and partnership for the upcoming launch of Ghana Prisons Television.
The visit, which took place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, formed part of efforts by the Ghana Prisons Service to strengthen partnerships with key institutions as it advances its rebranding and transformation agenda.
Mrs Baffoe-Bonnie was welcomed by the Director-General of GBC, Prof. Amin Alhassan, before touring various facilities of the Corporation, including the newsroom and studios.
During the visit, the Prisons Service Director-General also granted an interview in which she outlined the three key pillars of the Think Prisons 360° initiative—Preventive, Incarceration and Reintegration.
She also spoke about the planned launch of Ghana Prisons Television and its potential role in supporting public education, rehabilitation and the reintegration of inmates into society.
Responding to the request for collaboration, Prof. Amin Alhassan assured the Ghana Prisons Service of GBC’s willingness to support its rebranding and transformation efforts.
He said GBC was prepared to partner with the Service and provide training opportunities for prison officers, particularly in broadcasting and media production, to build the capacity required to operate Ghana Prisons Television effectively.
Prof. Alhassan’s commitment is expected to strengthen the technical and professional capacity of officers involved in the initiative while deepening cooperation between the two state institutions.
The visit ended with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to strengthening their collaboration and identifying additional areas of mutual support.
Also present during the visit was the Director of Prisons in charge of Agriculture, Mr Kwaku Ali Ababio.
