Management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Eastern Naval Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, particularly in the areas of security and the protection of Ghana’s maritime space.
The commitment was expressed when the newly appointed Flag Officer Commanding the Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Raymond Kyaano, led a delegation on an introductory visit to the refinery.
The visit provided an opportunity for management of TOR and the Naval Command to review their longstanding relationship and explore ways of deepening cooperation to safeguard the movement of crude oil and petroleum products through Ghana’s territorial waters.
Management noted that the relationship between TOR and the Eastern Naval Command remains important given the maritime operations associated with the transportation of crude oil and petroleum products into and out of the country.
The Naval Command has over the years supported the refinery in various areas, including the training of TOR’s security personnel, contributing to efforts to strengthen security at the facility.
Discussions during the visit focused on maintaining close cooperation and identifying additional areas where both institutions could support each other in the discharge of their respective mandates.
TOR led by the Managing Director Edmund Kombat, expressed its appreciation to Commodore Kyaano and his delegation for the visit, while reaffirming it’s readiness to continue working closely with the Eastern Naval Command to enhance the security of the refinery’s operations and Ghana’s maritime interests
