The Board Chairman of Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), Akwasi Opong-Fosu has emerged as the frontrunner in an unofficial Today.com.gh polls assessing support for candidates ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairmanship election scheduled for December 2026.

The informal poll, circulated among NDC members and supporters, places Mr Opong-Fosu at the top with 225 votes, representing 66 percent of the responses.

His closest contender, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, recorded 110 votes, representing 33 percent.

The other candidates recorded comparatively lower figures, with Goosie Tanoh securing seven votes (2.0 percent), Alhaji Sinari receiving five votes (1.4 percent), and Sofo Asorka polling three votes (0.8 percent).

The survey is not an official NDC poll and does not represent the position of the party or its delegates.

It is instead being viewed as an early indication of sentiment among the party members and supporters who participated.

Mr Opong-Fosu, has been campaigning on issues including party unity, organisational strengthening and renewal ahead of the national elections.

The NDC is expected to hold its national congress on December 19, 2026, when delegates will elect a new National Chairman and other national executives.
