Traffic movement on the Accra-Kumasi Highway has been disrupted following a road crash involving three vehicles at the Birimso Bridge on the N6 Highway.
The incident, which involved a high-occupancy passenger bus, a loaded articulated truck and a sedan, has completely blocked the highway, affecting vehicles travelling in both directions.

The Eastern South Regional Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) team from Kibi has moved to the scene and introduced temporary diversions to ease congestion and allow emergency operations to continue.
According to the police, motorists heading towards Accra have been redirected through Kibi at Nsutam, while those travelling towards Kumasi are being diverted through Apedwa.

The diversion took effect on Monday, August 3, 2026, as authorities work to clear the affected section of the road and restore normal traffic flow.
The police have appealed to motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers managing the situation and follow the temporary traffic arrangements.

“We entreat motorists and other road users to cooperate with the officers on the ground as they work to restore normal traffic flow,” the notice stated.
Drivers using the Accra-Kumasi route have been advised to exercise caution and comply with directions from security personnel until the highway is fully reopened.
