A heavy police has been deployed at No. 1 Oxford Street in Osu, a property linked to the leader of The New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Cheddar, as authorities move to enforce a High Court order authorising its takeover over an alleged US$24.9 million debt.
The enforcement follows a ruling by the Commercial Division of the High Court in Accra, which granted a warrant of police assistance to UK-based Cola Holdings Limited and its court-appointed receiver, Nii Amanor Dodoo, to take possession of the property.
The court order forms part of ongoing efforts by Cola Holdings to realise its security interest over the property under the Borrowers and Lenders Act, 2020 (Act 1052), after alleging that it was unable to obtain possession peacefully.
Despite the court’s directive, Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited, the company managing the property, has challenged the enforcement.
In a statement, the company argued that it is entitled to a seven-day period following the issuance of the order to file an appeal and seek an injunction restraining the receiver from taking possession until the matter is finally determined by the courts.
Management maintains that it is pursuing the available legal processes to contest the enforcement action and protect its interests in the ongoing dispute.
