Three men have been remanded into police custody after being charged in connection with the alleged lynching of a man at Sabon Zongo in Kumasi, as investigations into the incident continue.
The suspects; 37-year-old plumber Moses Adoko, 25-year-old herdsman Abubakari Adams, and 35-year-old motor mechanic Nurudeen Suleman were arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command following investigations into the death of Yusuf Zakari. They appeared before the Asokore Mampong District Court, where Her Worship Mrs. Hilder Esther Wryter ordered that they remain in custody until their next court appearance on August 7, 2026.
Police say the incident occurred in the early hours of July 19, 2026, at a cattle kraal in Sabon Zongo, where the deceased was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals. He was initially taken to the Manhyia Government Hospital before being referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Investigators are still working to identify and arrest other individuals believed to have participated in the attack. The Police have also renewed their appeal to the public to avoid acts of mob justice and instead report suspected crimes through the appropriate legal channels while assisting with any information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
