The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Jerry Ahmed Shiab, has joined the Municipal Chief Executive, Felix Odartey Lamptey, Assembly Members and officials of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly for the presentation of livelihood support to 36 Persons With Disabilities(PWDs).
The presentation, which took place on Monday, July 13, 2026, at the premises of the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, was carried out under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) Disability Fund initiative aimed at promoting economic empowerment among persons with disabilities.
The beneficiaries received various forms of support based on their individual needs and proposed livelihood activities.
Items presented included deep freezers with ice chests and start-up capital, industrial sewing machines, rubber cutting machines, bags of charcoal, assorted business goods and other income-generating equipment.
The intervention is expected to help beneficiaries establish and expand their businesses, improve their income levels and become more economically self-reliant.
Speaking at the event, Jerry Ahmed Shiab commended the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly, Assembly Members and other stakeholders for their commitment to supporting persons living with disabilities and creating opportunities for improved livelihoods.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to manage the items received responsibly and use the support as a foundation towards achieving financial independence and improving their quality of life.
