A Deputy Dirctor of Elections and IT for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sofo Tanko Rashid- Computer, has stated that individuals who accept appointments to public office must be prepared to account for state resources entrusted to them and face arrest if found to have engaged in wrongdoing.
His comments come in the wake of the arrest of Dennis Miracles Aboagye, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over stealing of some 150 million Ghana.
According to Rashid- Computer, occupying public office comes with the responsibility of managing public resources transparently and being accountable to the state and the citizenry.
He stressed that public officials should not consider investigations or arrests as unusual when questions arise over the management of state funds, noting that accountability is an essential component of public service.
Rashid- Computer further maintained that individuals entrusted with public resources must be willing to cooperate with state institutions and legal processes whenever the need arises.
