The line-up for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League(GPL) has been confirmed, with 18 clubs set to compete in the country’s top-tier football competition.
Three clubs will make their debut in the Premier League after securing promotion from the Division One League at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Port City earned promotion as champions of Zone Three, while Ashantigold ’04 topped Zone Two and Debibi United secured qualification after winning Zone One.
The newly promoted sides will join 15 returning clubs, including defending champions Medeama SC, who will be aiming to retain the league title they captured during the 2025/26 campaign.
The composition of the new season’s competition follows the relegation of Nations FC and Eleven Wonders to the Division One League after failing to preserve their top-flight status.
Hohoe United also exited the competition following the club’s withdrawal from the league.
According to the Ghana Football Association, the 2026/27 season will commence over the weekend of September 4 to 7, 2026, and conclude between May 28 and 31, 2027.
The Association indicated that the league will maintain its current competition format, with the majority of fixtures scheduled for weekends to encourage greater fan participation and attendance.
Midweek matches will primarily be used to clear outstanding fixtures where necessary.
The Football Association further reiterated its commitment to delivering a well-organised and uninterrupted league campaign for clubs, players, match officials and supporters.
