The Ghana Medical Trust Fund(GMTF) has initiated discussions with Media General aimed at strengthening public awareness on specialised healthcare and the growing burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Ghana.
The engagement took place during a courtesy call by the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko Opoku, and her team on the leadership of Media General, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Beatrice Agyeman.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration to enhance public education on specialised healthcare services and increase awareness of the support available through the Trust Fund.
Speaking during the engagement, Miss Opoku highlighted the critical role of the media in shaping public discourse and influencing positive behavioural change.
She noted that television and radio remain among the most effective channels for reaching millions of Ghanaians and promoting issues of national importance.
According to her, partnerships with influential media organisations such as Media General are essential to the Trust Fund’s mission of expanding access to specialised healthcare and ensuring that more citizens are informed about the support mechanisms available to them.
She stressed that increasing public understanding of Non-Communicable Diseases and healthcare interventions would help improve health outcomes and encourage broader support for initiatives aimed at addressing the country’s healthcare challenges.
The discussions also underscored the importance of using strategic media platforms to educate the public, promote preventive healthcare, and facilitate conversations that can improve the lives of Ghanaians.
The Ghana Medical Trust Fund expressed optimism that a partnership with Media General would help amplify its outreach efforts and contribute significantly to raising awareness about specialised healthcare services across the country.
