Two people have died after a helicopter crash-landed at a daycare facility in Tema Community 1 on Monday, March 21, 2026.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the helicopter with registration number G9-ADV crashed at the TMA Daycare, Site 18, in Tema Community 1.
In a statement, the GNFS said it received a distress call about the incident at 14:59 hours, prompting an immediate response from firefighters stationed at the Tema Metro Fire Station.
“A helicopter with registration number G9-ADV crash-landed at TMA Daycare, Site 18, Tema Community 1. The incident was reported at 14:59 hours, and firefighters from the Tema Metro Fire Station arrived at the scene within three (3) minutes,” the statement said.
The impact left the aircraft severely damaged, requiring firefighters to carry out extrication operations to retrieve the victims trapped inside.
“The helicopter is badly damaged and mangled, and firefighters had to carry out extrication operations to retrieve the occupants,” the GNFS said.
Two men who were onboard the helicopter were confirmed dead at the scene.
“Two (2) males who were onboard the helicopter unfortunately lost their lives. Their bodies have been retrieved and handed over to the Police for further investigation,” the statement added.
Authorities say senior officials from both the Fire Service and the Police in Tema are currently at the scene overseeing operations and managing the situation.
“Regional Commanders of both the Fire Service and the Police in Tema are currently at the scene managing the situation,” the GNFS said.
Further details about the cause of the crash are expected to be released as investigations continue.
