Over 4,000 parcels of suspected narcotics were intercepted following a targeted operation by the Oti Regional Police Command in Dambai on February 10, 2026.
This was announced by Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer for the Oti Region.
The police acted on intelligence to stop a DAF Long Trailer, registration number GW 1943-09, which initially appeared empty.
Upon inspection, officers discovered the truck had been modified with secret compartments sealed with six metal plates. Inside these compartments, they found the parcels of compressed dried leaf substances, wrapped in yellow masking tape, suspected to be narcotics.
A 40-year-old man, Amidu Jubril, was arrested at the scene and is currently assisting with the investigation. The truck has been impounded, and the seized parcels are being retained as evidence.
“The truck has been impounded, and all exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes. Suspect has been detained and is assisting Police with ongoing investigation,” DSP Nchor said.
The Oti Regional Police Command assured the public of its continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and other related offences in the region.
