The presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed his condolences to the chiefs and people of Dagbon following the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II.

He said Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II ascended the Dagbon throne at a time when the kingdom was recovering from years of division, but through wisdom and patience, helped unite families and restore harmony.

The former Vice President also praised the late Yaa Naa for balancing tradition with modern leadership, noting his commitment to advocating for development projects and the advancement of Dagbon.
Dr. Bawumia said he personally benefited from the counsel and guidance of the late King during his tenure as Vice President and later as the NPP’s presidential candidate.
