The management and staff of the Tema Oil Refinery Limited (TOR) have expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, and other stakeholders for their support towards the successful opening of the refurbished Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and the official receipt of Ghana’s Jubilee crude oil for local processing.
The historic event, held on August 1, 2026, marked a major milestone in efforts to restore the operational capacity of Ghana’s premier refinery and strengthen the country’s energy security.
In a statement, TOR management thanked President Mahama for attending the ceremony and for what it described as his continued commitment and support towards the revitalisation of the refinery.
The company said the President’s leadership and confidence in TOR have provided inspiration for the refinery’s transformation agenda aimed at supporting Ghana’s energy security and economic growth.
TOR also expressed gratitude to the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, for his guidance and support since assuming office, noting that his commitment played a significant role in making the achievement possible.
The refinery further acknowledged the contribution of its Board of Directors for their strategic leadership and oversight in advancing the transformation agenda.
Management extended appreciation to Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Chief Executive Officers, heads of institutions, civil society organisations, traditional authorities, development partners, industry stakeholders, members of the diplomatic community, the media, and other invited guests who attended the commissioning ceremony.
Special recognition was also given to partners, including Fujairah International Oil & Gas Corporation (FIOGC) and Triangle Commodities Trading, whose collaboration and support contributed to the successful milestone.
TOR said the commissioning represents a new chapter in its history and reaffirmed its commitment to building a stronger, more efficient, and globally competitive refinery capable of delivering greater value to the people of Ghana.
The company added that the renewed focus on operational efficiency and transformation would position TOR to play a more significant role in Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
