The Upper West Regional Police Command has intercepted 192 compressed parcels of a substance suspected to be cocaine and arrested two persons in connection with an alleged narcotics trafficking network.
The suspects have been identified as 26-year-old Abdulai Isaac, a driver’s mate, and Iddrisu Kamaldeen.
According to the Police, intelligence was received about the transportation of suspected cocaine from Kumasi to Wa through the Bole enclave, prompting officers to mount surveillance along the route.
Abdulai Isaac was intercepted at the ESP Bus Station in Wa on September 6, 2026.
A search of his backpack allegedly led to the discovery of the 192 compressed parcels containing the suspected narcotic substance.
Further investigations subsequently led to the arrest of Iddrisu Kamaldeen, whom the Police identified as one of the suspected customers.
The Police said Kamaldeen admitted to being a customer of Abdulai Isaac.
On September 14, Police officers and officials from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in Wa conducted a field test on the seized substance.
The test was conducted in the presence of the two suspects, their family members and Police officers.
According to the Police, the substance tested positive for cocaine.
The two suspects have since been remanded by the court and are expected to reappear on October 9, 2026.
The Police said investigations are continuing to identify and arrest other persons allegedly connected to the suspected narcotics trafficking network.
The suspects remain accused pending the determination of the case by the court.
