PassionAir has reduced domestic airfares by 10% from June 17, 2025, in response to the continued appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against major international currencies.

The fare cut is expected to boost domestic tourism and intercity travel, while reflecting growing market confidence in Ghana’s economic outlook.

Joseph Bukari Nikpe has called on domestic airline operators to reduce airfares in light of the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi, highlighting the need for consumers to benefit from improved macroeconomic indicators.

During a stakeholder meeting in Accra, Mr. Nikpe emphasized that the strengthening cedi should translate into lower costs for consumers and improved service delivery—particularly in the transport sector.

PassionAir noted that Ghanaians must benefit from the cedi gains, which is why they have cut the cost.

Confirming the fare reduction in a Facebook post on Monday, June 16, PassionAir stated:”PassionAir is delighted to announce a reduction of up to 10% in airfares across all our domestic routes. This fare adjustment comes in response to the recent strengthening of the Cedi (GHs) against major foreign currencies. At PassionAir, we are committed to ensuring our valued customers benefit directly from positive market developments. As the domestic aviation landscape evolves, we remain focused on offering competitive fares’ that reflect these changes. While maintaining our commitment to the safety and comfort of our passengers, we continue to prioritize making domestic air travel more accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians.”

The airline encouraged customers to visit www.flypassionair.com or call their toll-free line at 0800 221 221 for updated fares and bookings.
