The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), in collaboration with key health institutions, has organised a free health screening exercise for residents of Danfa in the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
The initiative, held at the Danfa Health Centre in the La-Nkwantang Municipal Assembly, was aimed at promoting early detection, disease prevention and improved access to quality healthcare services within the community.
The exercise was organised in partnership with the University of Ghana, the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR), the Ghana Health Service and the Danfa Health Centre.
Residents were screened for conditions including hepatitis, tuberculosis and malaria.
Health professionals from the participating institutions also educated community members on healthy lifestyles, the importance of regular medical check-ups and the benefits of hepatitis vaccination as part of efforts to encourage preventive healthcare practices.
Officials from the NHIS Madina District Office used the opportunity to sensitise residents on the Scheme’s expanded Benefit Package and the government’s Free Primary Health Care policy.
They also assisted community members with new registrations and renewal of their NHIS membership status.
Ace musician and health ambassador, Okyeame Kwame, who joined the programme, entertained participants while encouraging residents to prioritise regular health screenings, vaccination and proactive healthcare practices.
