A man identified as Ebenezer Frimpong is in police custody after allegedly making off with an armoured vehicle belonging to the Ghana Police Service at Nkawie Market.
The incident reportedly occurred when the vehicle’s driver briefly stepped away, leaving the engine running. The suspect is said to have seized the opportunity to drive the vehicle away from the scene.
Security personnel quickly launched a pursuit, tracking the vehicle to the Mim area, where the suspect was eventually apprehended and the armoured vehicle retrieved without further incident.
While details surrounding the motive remain unclear, there have been claims circulating on social media suggesting that the suspect may be mentally challenged. However, the police have not officially confirmed these reports.
