The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was shot during an incident at the church’s property in Kwabenya on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
In a statement issued by the church, the leadership described the allegations as false and misleading, insisting that no shooting occurred during the incident.
According to the statement, the incident took place shortly after a lawful church programme had ended.
The church alleged that Adwoa Safo forcefully drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the premises, causing damage to two metallic gates.
The leadership said the incident occurred while worshippers and invited guests were still within the compound, with some seated near the entrance.
It noted that the alleged actions posed a significant risk to the safety of those present and could have resulted in serious injuries had the gates collapsed or the vehicle entered the premises.
The church explained that its security personnel intervened solely to prevent further escalation and to protect attendees at the event.
Responding to reports suggesting that Adwoa Safo sustained gunshot injuries, the mission maintained that, based on information available to the church, no such shooting took place.
It further questioned what it described as attempts to portray the former lawmaker as a victim of gunfire and urged the public to disregard unverified accounts circulating online.
The Kristo Asafo Mission has called on the appropriate state authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident to establish the facts.
The church reaffirmed its commitment to peace, the rule of law, truth, and the safety of all persons who participate in its programmes.
