Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to the development of the Salaga Transmission Project in the Savannah Region.
Dr Jinapor represented President Mahama at the Kpembe Damba Festival and the 10th anniversary celebration of the enskinment of the Kpembewura, Banbagne Ndefoso IV.
The event brought together traditional leaders, residents and other stakeholders to celebrate the cultural heritage and traditions of the people, as well as the longstanding relationship between traditional leadership and the community.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Jinapor said the government remained committed to delivering sustainable development projects that would improve the living conditions of people in the area.
He specifically reiterated President Mahama’s commitment to the Salaga Transmission Project, which forms part of the broader Eastern Corridor transmission development programme.
The project includes the construction of a 330kV double-circuit transmission line from the Adubiliyili area to Salaga, as well as a new transmission substation at Salaga.
According to Dr Jinapor, the strategic investment is expected to strengthen the electricity transmission network and improve the reliability and quality of power supply to Salaga and communities along the Eastern Corridor.
He said the government’s development agenda would continue to combine investments in infrastructure with efforts to preserve Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
Dr Jinapor also used the occasion to congratulate the Kpembewura on his 10th anniversary on the traditional throne and commended the people for preserving their cultural traditions.
He said the celebration demonstrated the enduring bond between the people and traditional leadership, stressing the importance of culture and development in building stronger communities.
