Leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Israel Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I, says several attempts to reconcile with his sister, former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, have not been successful amid an ongoing family disagreement following the death of their father, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

Speaking to the media, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I said he had explored various avenues to resolve the differences, including seeking the intervention of former presidents, chiefs, church leaders and traditional authorities.

“I have made every effort to reconcile with my sister.

I spoke to some former Presidents, chiefs, church elders and traditional leaders, but all those attempts failed.

I even drove to her house myself in an effort to seek reconciliation, but nothing came of it,” he said.

His comments come amid disagreements over funeral arrangements for the late founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and Kantanka Group.

The church recently indicated that it had not been officially informed about any funeral or burial arrangements for Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, stating that no date had been agreed for his final rites.

However, Sarah Adwoa Safo has rejected claims that the arrangements remain unresolved, insisting that the funeral would begin on Thursday, July 30, with other activities scheduled for subsequent days.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Akwasi Ofori, said the church continues to support Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena I’s position that discussions over the funeral arrangements have not been concluded and that no official burial date has been confirmed.

The conflicting positions have brought renewed attention to the divisions within the family over the final rites of Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, who founded the Kristo Asafo Mission and established the Kantanka Group.
