Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has announced that he is preparing a petition to the President, containing over 15 allegations against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), following his arrest and detention on Wednesday, December 3.
Kpebu, who had visited the OSP to assist with investigations into corruption allegations he has made against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, described his arrest as unwarranted and part of a reckless agenda by the agency.
“My spirits were so high… I knew that I hadn’t done anything wrong,” Kpebu said after his release, insisting that the arrest was unnecessary. He added, “I have over 15 charges against Kisi Ejabin. I’m not running away from this fight.”
The lawyer claimed that the OSP’s chief of staff, directed the arrest. “This is a suicide mission that Kissi Agyebeng’s OSP has embarked on… The one who called the policeman to arrest me… is Seth Ablomensa… he’s the chief of staff at the OSP,” Kpebu said.
Kpebu further criticized the conduct of OSP security personnel during his detention, alleging unprofessional and threatening behavior.
“Next time you do that, you will see. In Ghanaian English, that means he will cause me some harm… even if it’s not physical harm, there will be consequences,” he recounted.
Despite these challenges, Kpebu stressed that he is determined to pursue accountability and will submit his petition to the President for onward transmission to the Chief Justice.
“As I’m talking now, I have over 15 charges against Kissi Agyabeng. I’m not running away from this fight,” he said, emphasizing his resolve to hold the OSP accountable.
