The Greater Accra Regional Fire Command has teamed up with the Inspection Unit of Ghana Water Limited (GWL) to inspect fire hydrants around Makola Market and parts of the High Street as part of efforts to strengthen firefighting preparedness in the busy commercial district.
The exercise, led by ACFO II Rashid Nisawu, focused on assessing the availability and operational readiness of hydrants in the densely populated areas.
The inspection is aimed at ensuring that firefighters can access reliable water points during emergencies, particularly in commercial areas where a fire could quickly threaten lives and property.
The collaboration between the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and GWL forms part of broader efforts to improve emergency response and public safety.
The exercise also underscores the two institutions’ commitment to protecting lives and property and enhancing firefighting preparedness across the capital.
