The High Commission of the Republic of Ghana in Ottawa has announced the successful distribution of FIFA World Cup tickets provided by President John Dramani Mahama to Ghanaian supporters across Canada to enable them to cheer on the national team, the Black Stars.

In a statement issued by the High Commission, the gesture was described as a generous initiative aimed at allowing Ghanaian nationals in Canada to be part of the global sporting event and support the team during its World Cup campaign.

The High Commission expressed profound gratitude to President Mahama for what it called a thoughtful intervention that has enabled many Ghanaians abroad to experience the tournament and rally behind the national team.

The statement was signed by Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, High Commissioner of Ghana to Canada

Appreciation was also extended to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, for their support in facilitating the ticket distribution process.

According to the statement, the tickets were allocated through recognised Ghanaian community associations in Canada, as well as a random selection process drawn from a database of registered applicants who submitted their details via email.

The High Commission noted that due to limited availability, it was not possible to accommodate all requests, but expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation shown by members of the Ghanaian community.

It added that any additional tickets received in future would be distributed through the same transparent channels in collaboration with Ghanaian community associations, alongside continued random selection from the existing applicant database.

The High Commission encouraged all Ghanaians in Canada and beyond to continue supporting the Black Stars as they begin their FIFA World Cup campaign, urging unity, patriotism, and national pride.
