Residents of Garu may soon see a long-awaited healthcare project move from an unfinished structure to a functioning hospital, with Member of Parliament Dr. Thomas Winsum Anabah projecting October or November 2026 for its commissioning.

The MP gave the indication after inspecting the stalled Agenda 111 hospital project in the district, where construction has resumed following the return of the contractor to site.

For Dr. Anabah, getting work back on site represents a significant step towards completing a facility that has remained unfinished for an extended period.

“The biggest success so far is getting government to send the contractor back to site,” he said.

He explained that the immediate focus is on completing the remaining technical works, particularly the electrical installations. Once that stage is completed, the facility will be in a position to receive the equipment required to make it operational.

“Once electrical works are completed, the facility will be ready to receive equipment,” Dr. Anabah said.

The MP is optimistic that the remaining work can be completed within the proposed timeframe, allowing the hospital to be opened to the public before the end of the year.

He said the target is not merely to complete construction but to have the facility ready for actual service delivery, with President John Dramani Mahama expected to formally commission it.

“And if nothing happens and everything goes as they plan, by October/November the hospital will be fully ready for President John Dramani Mahama to come and cut the ribbon and open it for the first patient to get service from that hospital,” he said.

The projected opening would mark an important development for healthcare delivery in the Garu District, particularly for residents who have been waiting for the completion of the facility.
