Arizona State University (ASU) President Michael M. Crow has joined Dr. Maxwell Ampong, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Maxwell Investments Group(MIG), for a nationally broadcast fireside conversation in Accra to promote inclusive education and entrepreneurship development.
The conversation formed part of the launch of Entrepreneur in You, an initiative established by the Africa School of Entrepreneurship under Maxwell Investments Group to expand access to practical entrepreneurship education in Ghana.
A key focus of the discussion was how education can create opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds and help them translate knowledge into practical outcomes.
Through the Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative, led by the Thunderbird School of Global Management at Arizona State University, learners worldwide can access free, online and self-paced courses in entrepreneurship, business, innovation and leadership.
Speaking during the conversation, President Crow underscored the importance of inclusion in expanding educational opportunities.
“For us, inclusion is central to our objective. It is absolutely at the heart of everything that we’re doing,” he said.
He also encouraged entrepreneurs and learners to move beyond discussions and take practical steps towards achieving their goals.
“You make things happen by doing them, and it’s more important than talking about them,” President Crow stated.
His remarks highlighted the importance of turning access to education into tangible action, particularly for individuals seeking to develop businesses, strengthen their leadership skills or pursue entrepreneurial ideas.
The event also recognised participants from different backgrounds who had completed courses under the Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative.
The learners were presented with copies of their certificates of completion in recognition of their efforts and progress in their educational and entrepreneurial journeys.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Maxwell Ampong encouraged them to recognise the value of the knowledge and opportunities available through the initiative.
“The future is in your hands because the space between Arizona State University, what they do and what others do is so wide that the future is so bright and so promising,” he said.
He also congratulated participants who had completed courses under the programme.
“To everybody here who has taken any course under the Najafi 100 Million Learners initiative, I would like to first say congratulations. You have no idea what you have!” Dr. Ampong added.
Entrepreneur in You is a trademarked initiative of the Africa School of Entrepreneurship, established by Maxwell Investments Group.
The group serves as an implementation partner supporting the Najafi 100 Million Learners Global Initiative in Ghana.
The initiative aims to bring practical entrepreneurship education closer to aspiring business founders, small-business owners, professionals and individuals seeking to develop their ideas into viable ventures.
It also seeks to connect more Ghanaian learners to educational opportunities that can help them build businesses, develop leadership capabilities and pursue innovation.
The engagement in Accra highlighted the role of accessible education and inclusive learning opportunities in supporting entrepreneurship and personal development.
The central message was that while access to education and inclusion are essential, learning achieves its greatest value when people apply the knowledge and skills they acquire.
