The Ministry of Finance, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, says it has paid GH¢24.8 billion to statutory funds since January 2026 to support education, healthcare, road infrastructure and local development.
In a statement announcing the disbursement, the Ministry said the payments were intended to ensure that statutory funds had the resources needed to provide essential public services as required by law.
“We have paid GH¢24.8 billion to statutory funds since January 2026 to support schools, healthcare, roads and local development,” the Ministry stated.
It said the government had improved the release of funds, with payments now being made on time and in full.
“Unlike in the past, when payments were marked by delays, capping and arrears, we now release these funds on time and in full,” the Ministry said.
According to the Ministry, the timely disbursement of funds would enable statutory institutions to carry out their responsibilities and support development programmes across the country.
“This ensures statutory funds have the money they need to provide the essential services required by law,” it added.
The GH¢24.8 billion payment forms part of the government’s efforts to ensure that statutory funds receive the financial resources allocated to them to support public service delivery.
The Ministry said the improved payment process was intended to strengthen the capacity of the funds to finance their mandated activities across key sectors of the economy.
