Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Matilda Asante-Asiedu, has joined the Board, Management, staff, customers, and partners of Standard Chartered Ghana to commemorate the bank’s 130th anniversary in the country.

Speaking at the anniversary celebration, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu congratulated the bank on reaching the significant milestone and acknowledged its longstanding contribution to Ghana’s economic development.

She noted that for over a century, Standard Chartered Ghana has played a pivotal role in supporting trade, investment, and business growth, contributing significantly to the country’s financial and economic landscape.

The Deputy Governor commended the Board, Management, staff, customers, and shareholders of the bank for their commitment and dedication, which have sustained the institution’s operations and growth over the years.

She also highlighted the importance of the financial sector in supporting Ghana’s improving economic outlook, urging banks and other financial institutions to continue expanding access to finance, particularly for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), women-led businesses, and young entrepreneurs.

According to her, increased financial inclusion and targeted support for emerging businesses will be critical in driving sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

Mrs. Asante-Asiedu further congratulated individuals and organisations recognised during the event, applauding their contributions to the banking industry and national development.
