The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has highlighted President John Dramani Mahama’s investments in major infrastructure projects, citing developments at the Accra International Airport and other strategic locations across the country.
According to the Minister, the Mahama administration has invested in major infrastructure projects, including Terminal 3 at the Accra International Airport, the MPS Terminal at the Tema Port and the Tema-Mpakadan Railway Project.
Mr Ofosu Kwakye said the government had also secured US$400 million for the Tema-Mpakadan Rail Project as part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s transportation infrastructure.
He disclosed that the government would return to the Accra International Airport on Thursday, August 27, 2026, to cut the sod for the construction of a new multi-tiered, multi-purpose car park and airport hotels complex.
The proposed development is expected to significantly expand parking capacity and provide additional commercial and hospitality facilities at the airport.
The project will feature a seven-storey car park with more than 2,000 parking bays, alongside two hotels and a pedestrian connector linking the complex to the airport terminal.
The development will also include a shopping mall with a food court, retail outlets and office spaces available for rental.
Other features will include a sky lounge designed for entertainment and a sky observatory that will provide visitors with views of aircraft during take-offs and landings.
Mr Ofosu Kwakye said the planned project forms part of the government’s broader infrastructure agenda aimed at modernising key national facilities and creating world-class infrastructure.
The project is expected to enhance the experience of passengers and visitors to the airport while creating additional commercial opportunities within the airport environment.
