Adamus Resources Limited has denied allegations linking the company or its security personnel to the fatal shooting of an individual reportedly engaged in illegal mining activities within its AU Field concession at Salman in the Nzema East District of the Western Region.
In a statement, the company said claims that one of its security officers was responsible for the shooting were “false and wholly unsupported by the facts presently available.”
Adamus Resources stressed that its security personnel are not armed, insisting that suggestions of their involvement in the incident are inconsistent with its operational security protocols.
According to the company’s account, the incident is believed to have occurred after individuals suspected of illegal mining activities were spotted within the concession area and fled upon noticing a patrol team, allegedly including personnel from the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAiMOS).
It said one person was later found to have sustained fatal injuries during the ensuing events.
The company maintained that there is currently no credible evidence linking it or its staff to the shooting and cautioned against what it described as speculative reporting that could interfere with ongoing investigations.
Adamus Resources has therefore called on the Ghana Police Service and other relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
It further stated its readiness to cooperate fully with law enforcement to ensure that the facts are properly established and accountability determined where necessary.
The company also urged the media and the public to exercise restraint in discussing the incident, warning that unverified narratives risk undermining investigations and damaging reputations.
Adamus expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and reaffirmed its commitment to lawful mining operations and collaboration with state institutions in the fight against illegal mining.
