The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has brought under control a commercial fire outbreak at the Sefwi Juaboso Market in the Western North Region.
The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, near the Frankrab Cold Store area, was reported at about 3:07 a.m. It destroyed four wooden shops and one metal container used for commercial activities.

Firefighters from the Sefwi Juaboso Fire Station responded swiftly, arriving at the scene within minutes.
Although their fire engine was faulty, the crew deployed portable fire extinguishers and, with support from members of the public, managed to contain the blaze by 4:33 a.m. The fire was completely extinguished at 5:02 a.m.

Preliminary investigations point to an electrical fault as the likely cause of the fire. No injuries or loss of life were recorded.
The District Fire Officer, DO II Emmanuel Miah, was present at the scene to supervise operations and provide support as investigations continue.
