Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State responsible for Government Communications, has brushed aside claims that President John Dramani Mahama is plotting to extend his stay in office beyond the constitutionally permitted two terms.
In an interview on Channel One TV, Mr. Ofosu described the narrative being pushed by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as baseless and driven by speculation rather than fact.
He stressed that the President has clearly stated his commitment to democratic principles and the Constitution of Ghana.
According to him, calls by some individuals on social media urging President Mahama to seek a third term do not translate into official intent, noting that personal opinions expressed online cannot be attributed to the President.
Mr. Ofosu urged the NPP to focus on substantive national issues instead of what he termed manufactured controversy, adding that President Mahama has shown no interest in violating constitutional limits.
