The Parliamentary Minority has called on the government to make the full report on the August 6, 2025, military helicopter crash public, following the release of preliminary findings by the Investigation Committee.
The initial report revealed that the crash was caused by a sudden loss of altitude and lift due to a downdraft while the helicopter flew over high terrain. Investigators noted that the aircraft was mechanically sound but lacked certain avionic safety enhancements, which contributed to the tragedy.
Speaking for the Minority Caucus, Ranking Member Rev. John Ntim Fordjour emphasized the need for transparency: “The Minority Caucus expects in the spirit of transparency and full disclosure, to receive the whole report in order to offer our objective and comprehensive view on the findings; not with the intent to point accusing fingers but with the poise to state our principled position and constructively support the implementation of necessary measures therein in the best interest of our dear nation-state.”
Rev. Fordjour further urged the government to clarify its next steps saying, “We demand that the government boldly states their position and plans relative to the Helicopter Crash Investigation Report and ultimately lead the charge in charting the way forward towards the full implementation of the report.”
The Minority Caucus reaffirmed its commitment to approach the matter without politicization, while also extending condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash.
